This story starts with a Nebraska football team needing new equipment storage. Something that was organized, easy to manage and better leveraged the existing space.
The final plans were drawn up after going through each and every single pad, chin strap, cleat, and every piece of gear, including home, away, and practice jerseys and pants, along with every other odd and end that needed to be stored. Working together with the architects and contractor, the storage capacity was tripled – the equipment manager was overjoyed.
The first system, which was installed in the main equipment room, was made for bulk equipment storage, such as 2,500 pairs of shoes, uniforms for the team, and other items. Two motorized mobile shelving systems with 4-Post Shelving and a range of storage choices, including cubbies, heavy-duty pullout drawers, garment racks, and specially built shoulder pad racks, were installed. With space for expansion, everything had its place.
The second system was made specifically to hold each player’s jersey, helmet, and other accessories. To do this, smaller cubbies were employed to group equipment that was unique to each player together
