Locker Rooms for Public Safety Officers

6/28/2022

You probably don’t need us to remind you that law enforcement professionals frequently work in demanding environments. Showing them some modest acts of appreciation can go a long way. We found a way to do that in an unexpected place: the locker rooms in your department.

Customization

A personal storage locker serves as a “home base” and a secure location to keep both their personal and official belongings for many police officers across the country.

The Personal Police Locker from Midwest is made in a range of sizes to fit in any locker area. To make the most of the available vertical space, they are offered in a variety of heights that are measured in 1″ increments.

Each officer may securely store their uniforms, equipment, guns, bulletproof vests, and personal things thanks to a wide range of accessories such as bins, compartments, garment hooks, and drawers.

To provide the locker room with a modern and attractive appearance that matches the department’s design, the lockers are available in a wide range of finishes. To make the locker room genuinely unique, they can also be embellished with shields, emblems, crests, or other images.

Maximizing Space

Addressing your problems may require a little more work than a straightforward refit if your department has grown in size and you need to expand the amount of storage space in your locker rooms. Our storage specialists have collaborated with departments to develop floor plans that can maximize space within a given footprint for various circumstances.

  • DOUBLE-TIER LOCKERS
    • Since not all staff require full-sized lockers, tiered lockers with smaller apertures are one approach to increase the number of lockers in an existing footprint. This design uses smaller “two-tier” lockers that yet maintain the required ADA clearances, allowing for an increase in the number of lockers in the same area.
  • BREADBOARD BENCH SEATING
    • Rethinking locker room seating is another method to make room for an expansion in staff. The freestanding seats in the locker area had to be removed when a department required to increase the number of lockers and their size. To create seating, retractable breadboard locker benches were created. It was possible to get the required number of lockers without having to give up seating since the bench could be retracted into the locker bases, which decreased each locker’s depth by 12″.

Convenience and Comfort

  • INTEGRATE YOUR HVAC SYSTEM AND LOCKERS
    • Slats or diamond perforated locker alternatives are available to allow for natural air movement, or the locker bank can be incorporated into the building’s HVAC system for even greater drying. Sweaty uniforms are no fun for anyone and can create an uncomfortable locker room environment.
  • DUTY BAG LOCKERS
    • Your officers’ and other public safety personnel’s time is valuable; the last thing they need when they need to act swiftly is to be slowed down by equipment that isn’t readily available. Duty bag lockers are the perfect solution in these circumstances to create a safe storage area for this equipment while keeping it out of locker rooms and other areas.
  • STAYING CONNECTED
    • Officers in charge of public safety are likely to carry both their own personal electronics and work equipment that needs to be charged during the day. Mobile phones and other electronics can charge inside Personal Storage Lockers, which are available with a modular electronic component.

Although it may not seem possible that something as straightforward as safe, secure locker storage could boost the morale of a police force, that is exactly what these lockers have done.
